[iNews24 reporter Kwon Seo-ah] LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo traveled to Germany to meet Mercedes‑Benz Chairman Ola Källenius and discuss cooperation on mobility projects.

On March 25, LG Innotek said via social media that it had held "LG Innotek Tech Day 2026" on March 19 at Mercedes‑Benz’s R&D center in Böblingen, Germany. The event marked the first time LG Innotek staged a Tech Day exclusively for Mercedes‑Benz.

Last year’s event at Mercedes‑Benz headquarters included LG Electronics, LG Display and LG Energy Solution alongside LG Innotek. This year, LG Innotek went solo — a move analysts say signals a deepening partnership on vehicle electronics with Mercedes‑Benz.

LG Innotek said the Tech Day focused on future collaboration opportunities and new projects, calling the event a chance to further strengthen ties between the two companies.

Attendees from LG Innotek included CEO Moon; Yoo Byung‑guk, head of the Mobility Solutions Division; Noh Seung‑won, head of the Optical Solutions Division; and Min Jon, chief technology officer (CTO). Mercedes‑Benz was represented by Chairman Källenius and its CTO.

At the event, LG Innotek unveiled about 30 mobility products centered on sensing solutions — including ADAS cameras, LiDAR for autonomous driving, and radar — along with vehicle communication and lighting systems.

It also showcased vision‑sensing solutions for robotics, a technology pitch framed as a response to Mercedes‑Benz’s drive to expand automation across its production lines.

LG Innotek has been steadily building its relationship with Mercedes‑Benz. During a November visit to Korea, Källenius met with executives from LG Innotek and other key LG affiliates at the Yeouido LG Twin Towers to discuss collaboration in vehicle electronics. He said, "LG is one of the partners Mercedes naturally turns to whenever we try something special and new."
