Seoul’s Han River Bus, the country’s first water-based public transit service, surpassed 200,000 cumulative riders seven months after its official launch.
The city said on April 17 that since the Han River Bus began formal operations on Sept. 18 last year, cumulative ridership had exceeded 200,000 as of April 16.
From the start of official service through February this year, total ridership stood at 104,935. After the city fully resumed all routes in March, an additional 100,981 passengers rode through April 16, bringing the overall total to 205,916.
Ridership rebounded once full service resumed. Passenger numbers had dipped during the period of partial operation but recovered after the March restart. Some 62,491 people used the service in March, and 38,490 rode through mid-April, sustaining the upward trend.
User satisfaction remained high. A survey conducted after full service resumed found that 96% of respondents were satisfied, 94% said they would recommend the service to others, and 89% said they would ride again.
