[Herald Economy | Reporter Na Eun-jung] Burger King is turning April Fools’ Day into a Whopper steal — offering its signature Whopper for ₩3,900 (about $3) on April 1.

Industry insiders reported on the 30th that, for five days starting that day through April 3, Burger King will sell the Whopper and the Bulgogi Whopper for ₩3,900 — roughly a 47% discount. The Cheese Whopper will be available for ₩4,500 (about $3). The promotion runs at most locations nationwide, with a few store exceptions, and customers can buy up to five per person.

The promotion is presented as an April Fools’ stunt built around a “manager’s ordering mistake.” Through online and offline channels, Burger King appealed, “We ordered too many Whopper buns. With tears in our eyes, we’re discounting Whoppers,” to grab attention.

This campaign is part of a “funsumer marketing” approach that blends shopping with entertainment. Last year, Burger King also grabbed headlines with a discount promotion framed as “the boss’s business trip.”

The company said, “We planned this April Fools’ event so customers can enjoy it with us,” adding that it aims to deliver a distinctive brand experience alongside the price perks.
