A product of Sporting CP’s academy, Figueiredo has built a varied career that includes spells with Sporting CP, CF Reus Deportiu (Spain), CD Nacional (Portugal), Nottingham Forest and Hull City in England. He made his biggest impact at Nottingham Forest from 2018–2022, appearing in 101 Championship matches and scoring three goals.
In July 2023 he moved to Brazil, signing with Fortaleza EC. Figueiredo then had loan stints at Criciúma in 2024 and Athletico Paranaense in 2025. Internationally, he represented Portugal at every youth level from the U-15s to the U-23s and was part of Portugal’s squad at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Figueiredo is a 188 cm (6 ft 2 in) central defender with a strong physical presence. He defends with aerial authority, aggressive tackling and disciplined line control, and he can help build from the back with a dependable right-footed pass.
Jeju SK expects Figueiredo to form a formidable central defense alongside left-footed French center-back Célestin—who has stood out with dominant defending since joining this season—and Kim Geon-woong, who successfully transitioned from midfield to center-back.
Head coach Sergiu Costa said adding a veteran like Figueiredo, who has experience in both Europe and Brazil, will strengthen the team’s organization and competitiveness. \"I expect Tobias to become a cornerstone of Jeju SK’s defense,\" Costa added.
Beginning a new chapter, Figueiredo said he was drawn to the K League’s intensity and to Jeju SK. \"After playing in Europe and Brazil, starting a new challenge in Asia feels special. I’ll pour everything I’ve learned onto the pitch to help the team reach its goals and repay the fans,\" he said.
