[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] Professional baseball's popularity is surging.

The KBO said on the 25th that 99,905 fans attended games in Jamsil, Munhak, Gwangju, Gocheok and Daejeon, pushing season attendance past the 2 million mark.

That makes this the fastest the KBO League has reached 2 million fans — doing so in just 117 games, the fewest in league history. Cumulative attendance now stands at 2,094,481.

The previous record was 118 games, set in the 2025 season. The league crossed the 2 million threshold just 15 days after surpassing 1 million on the 10th.

Average attendance per game is 17,902, roughly an 8% increase from the same point last year.

By club, the LG Twins lead with 331,872 fans, followed by the Samsung Lions at 306,709. The Hanwha Eagles drew 221,000; the Doosan Bears attracted 219,896; and the Lotte Giants reached 200,392.

The Kiwoom Heroes showed the biggest gain, up 39% to 142,981, while the KT Wiz rose 36% to 177,360.

Sellouts have been common. Of the 117 games, 65 — about 56% — sold out. LG and Hanwha each recorded 13 sellouts, the most of any clubs. Notably, Hanwha has sold out every home game this season and is the only team among the 10 to maintain 100% seat occupancy. Doosan logged eight sellouts, and Samsung had seven.
