
On March 10, the Korea Professional Football League announced Mateus as the Hana Bank K League 1 Round 2 MVP. In the March 8 match at Anyang Sports Complex against Jeju SK, he converted a penalty in the 42nd minute of the second half to put Anyang ahead, then scored the stoppage-time winner to secure a 2-1 victory.
Anyang, buoyed by its first win of the year, was also selected as the K League 1 Round 2 Best Team, and the Anyang–Jeju match was chosen as the Round 2 Best Match.
The K League 1 Round 2 Best XI featured: Hong Yun-sang (Gimcheon Sangmu), Mota (Jeonbuk Hyundai), and Mateus (Anyang) up front; Thomas and Kim Jung-hyun (both Anyang), along with Choi Kyung-rok and Shin Chang-moo (both Gwangju FC) in midfield; Lee Jung-taek (Gimcheon), Kwon Kyung-won (Anyang), and Patrick (Bucheon) in defense; and Kim Kyung-min (Gwangju) in goal.
Meanwhile, Daegu FC forward Edgar, who scored multiple goals in Round 2, was named the K League 2 Round 2 MVP.
