On the 10th (Korean time), the Dominican Republic beat Israel 10-1 in their third Group D game of the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) at Rondifo Park in Florida, U.S.
The win pushed the Dominicans to 3-0 in Pool D, handing Nicaragua, the Netherlands and Israel consecutive defeats and vaulting them into sole possession of first place, ahead of Venezuela, which has yet to play its third game.
The game turned in the second inning. With two outs and the bases loaded after walks by Manny Machado, Carlos Santana and Oneil Cruz, Geraldo Perdomo brought in the first run with a bases-loaded walk.
With the pressure still on and the bases still loaded, Fernando Tatis Jr. stepped in and crushed a grand slam that blew the game open.
The Dominicans added another run in the fourth on Oneil Cruz’s solo homer, and in the seventh Tatis Jr. delivered a two-run RBI single to put the game out of reach.
They tacked on one run in both the eighth and ninth innings to record their third straight double-digit scoring victory, following 12-3 and 12-1 wins over Nicaragua and the Netherlands, respectively.
The Dominican Republic figures to be South Korea’s quarterfinal opponent. South Korea beat Australia 7-2 on the 9th to clinch the pool’s second spot in dramatic fashion and will face the Pool D winner in the quarterfinals on the 14th.
