[Geumsan] The 2026 Geumsan Ginseng Well-Being Marathon invites runners to soak up early-spring energy in Geumsan — the heartland of Korean ginseng — and opens with an opening ceremony and races starting at 9 a.m. on the 14th.

Hosted by the Geumsan County Sports Council and co-organized by the Geumsan Athletics Federation, Local Today, and the National Marathon Association, the event is expected to draw about 3,000 runners and local residents from across the country to test their fitness against Geumsan's pristine natural backdrop.

Hwang Young-jo, the \"Hero of Montjuïc\" and the 1992 Barcelona Olympic marathon gold medalist, will be on site for a fan autograph session, giving participants a memorable experience.

The well-regarded semi-trot group T-Engel will perform as a guest act, bringing bright, upbeat energy to the event.

The race lineup includes a half marathon (13.1 miles), a 10K (6.2 miles), and a 5K health course (3.1 miles). Participants will gather at the Geumsan Ginseng Expo parking lot at 8 a.m. for pre-race activities and warm-ups, and races will start promptly at 9 a.m., beginning with the half marathon.

Elite runners from Kenya will serve as pacemakers to add pace and excitement, and organizers will stream the entire event live on YouTube.

On race day from 8 a.m., authorities will partially restrict vehicle traffic on major roads along the marathon course, including the Shindae-ri area of Geumsan-eup and the stretch from Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Geumsan High Vision Center (2117 Mugeum-ro, Namil-myeon) to Hanwoo Gallery (178 Changpyeong-ro, Namil-myeon). To minimize inconvenience to residents, traffic control officers will be stationed at key points.

A representative from the County Sports Council said, \"We hope to bring both health and good fortune to marathoners nationwide. We will do our utmost to ensure safe event operations by implementing traffic controls and deploying emergency medical teams.\"
