Police arrested an undocumented immigrant after he allegedly drove a truck without a license and collided with an SUV.

Iksan police in North Jeolla Province said on March 29 that they arrested A, a Vietnamese national in his 50s, on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act for unlicensed driving. He is currently being questioned.

According to police, A allegedly drove the truck without a license at about 11:28 a.m. at an intersection in Yongan-myeon, Iksan.

The truck collided with an SUV. B, a teenage passenger in the SUV, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. The SUV driver, C, in his 40s, and three other occupants sustained minor injuries and were also transported to hospitals.

Police say both vehicles were traveling straight through an uncontrolled intersection when they collided and fell into an irrigation canal. Investigators are probing the exact circumstances of the crash.

A police official said that after confirming A is an undocumented immigrant, authorities will detain and question him before transferring him to the relevant agencies.
