Authorities carried out a second overland evacuation of South Korean nationals remaining in Iran.

The Foreign Ministry said four South Korean nationals in Iran arrived in Turkmenistan on the afternoon of the 12th (local time).

On the 11th, with support from the South Korean embassy in Iran, they traveled overland from Tehran on a government-chartered bus.

The bus initially carried five South Koreans and two Iranian family members.

One other South Korean and two Iranian nationals are scheduled to arrive on the 14th.

The Foreign Ministry said differing individual flight schedules out of Turkmenistan required the evacuees to enter in two groups.

The embassy in Turkmenistan assisted with entry procedures and accompanied them to the capital, Ashgabat, providing necessary consular support.

The Foreign Ministry said it will continue to closely monitor developments across the Middle East and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of South Koreans in the region and to support their return home.
