[Herald Economy=Reporter Choi Won-hyuk] MMA fighter Myeong Hyun-man rebuked a middle-schooler for smoking on the street, and the student responded by calling the police on him.

In a recent video posted to the YouTube channel “Madbro,” Myeong visited Guwol-dong in Namdong District, Incheon, with comedians Kang Seung-gu and Jeong Bo-hyun.

They had planned to film a segment aimed at discouraging wayward youth when they spotted a student walking across a crosswalk while smoking.

Kang stopped the group and asked, “You’re students. Who walks around smoking like that? What grade are you in?” The student answered, “I’m in the second year of middle school,” then dropped the cigarette on the ground.

Kang told him, “Hey, pick that up,” and added, “You shouldn’t be openly smoking while walking.” Standing beside him, Myeong softened his tone and said, “There are adults and children around—smoking while walking isn’t cool.”

The student replied with profanity: “I know I did wrong, but f—, why are you filming?” The students demanded that the producer delete the footage and then accused Myeong and Kang of threatening them, prompting a call to the police.

When officers arrived, one said the student was a known delinquent in the area and advised the group not to engage. Kang explained the situation and said, “We were just trying to point something out as adults.”

After the incident, Myeong expressed disbelief: “If someone my size speaks up and gets that reaction, imagine how neighborhood elders would be treated.” Myeong, a heavyweight MMA fighter, stands 190 cm (roughly 6 ft 3 in) and fights at about 117 kg (approximately 258 lb).

Kang added ruefully, “Even if you or I try to correct them, they’ll lash out like that. If ordinary people had intervened, they might have been harmed.”
