The Democratic Party of Korea condemned the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which President Donald Trump attended, saying, “Indiscriminate violence and terrorism can never be tolerated.” Kang Jun-hyun, the party’s chief spokesperson, said in a written briefing on the 26th that he was relieved the incident did not escalate into a serious bloodbath and that the situation was contained.
Kang said, “The moment people try to resolve conflict with violence, peace is no longer guaranteed,” adding that the episode serves as a reminder of the fundamental political principle that differences must be overcome through rational dialogue and democratic compromise.
He also said he hopes the incident will help put an end to anyone using terrorism to express their views.
