Kim Min-su: 'You're the ones long overdue to step down'

미국 Kim Min-su, a Supreme Council member of the People Power Party, on the 23rd pushed back at senior party figures pressuring party leader Jang Dong-hyeok to resign, saying, "Those venerable gentlemen who grew up in the party's shadow seem not to realize it's long past time for them to step aside."

On Facebook that day, Kim wrote, "At a difficult moment, the party leader has taken the helm and is working hard out of a sense of responsibility. You have obstructed him at every turn, and now you are pressuring him to quit."

He retorted, "What have you done for this party over the decades, and how much have you helped it develop? For the sake of the party's progress and renewal, please stop clinging to comfortable positions and step aside."

Addressing senior figures directly, he added, "If you had fought the Democratic Party the way you fight the party leader, would you have lost every time? Would the president have been impeached? Would the party be in this state?" He continued, "Having risen to power at a relatively young age and enjoyed decades of influence, I hope you will use that power at least once for the party."

Many interpreted the remarks as directed at Rep. Joo Ho-young of the People Power Party. Earlier, Joo announced he would not run for mayor of Daegu and criticized Jang, saying, "When someone lacks virtue but holds high office, or lacks wisdom but has big dreams, trouble is hard to avoid," urging him to know when to move forward and when to step back — effectively pressing him to resign.
