[Herald Economy (Yeongcheon) — Reporter Kim Byung-jin] On April 3, People Power Party (PPP) Yeongcheon mayoral candidates Kim Byung-sam and Kim Seop jointly signed a "primary candidate pledge" at the PPP Yeongcheon city chapter office, committing to a fair and clean primary.

The agreement is intended to eliminate illegal and defamatory conduct during the primary and to keep the candidates united as one team to secure victory in the general election.

The pledge ceremony, attended by both candidates and campaign staff, reaffirmed their commitment to making the primary a policy-focused contest and to conducting orderly campaign activities.

Through the pledge, the candidates vowed to accept the primary outcome, comply with party bylaws and guidelines from the central party and the North Gyeongsang provincial party, prohibit illegal campaign practices such as offering money or hospitality, and refrain from slander, black propaganda, or spreading false information.

They also pledged that, after the primary, they would actively cooperate to help the nominee win the general election by taking on key roles, such as co-chief campaign chairs, and that they would not support independent or rival-party candidates.

Lee Man-hee, chairman of the PPP Yeongcheon–Cheongdo party committee and a member of the National Assembly, said, "We must hold a fair primary based on trust and harmony among candidates, and then move forward together as a united force to earn the voters' choice."

The two candidates added, "We will run a responsible primary that upholds the honor of the party and its members and build a one-team system to drive Yeongcheon's change and development. By sharing policies and forming a unity-focused campaign committee, we will establish a joint framework to support regional development."
