Choo Mi-ae, the Democratic Party’s candidate for governor of Gyeonggi Province, completed a second round of appointments for her campaign committee on the 2nd and has shifted into full campaign mode. The campaign is accelerating with a “one-team” structure that places all members of the National Assembly representing Gyeonggi at the center of operations.
According to reporting compiled by Incheon Ilbo on the 2nd, Choo’s campaign committee, called the ChuChu Campaign Committee (literally “Choo’s Drive”), finalized its second round of appointments that day. The central move was to bring every National Assembly member from Gyeonggi into the committee. Sitting lawmakers with local bases are positioned throughout the campaign, creating an integrated structure that combines policy, organization, and field response.
The campaign is organized into a Standing Campaign Committee, a Joint Campaign Committee, a General Campaign Headquarters, candidate-affiliated bodies and special committees, and issue-specific headquarters. Cho Jung-sik and Kim Tae-nyeon serve as general coordinators, while Kim Seung-won, Kwon Chil-seung, Han Jun-ho, Ko Young-in, and Yang Gi-dae serve as standing campaign directors. Joint campaign co-chairs include Lee Hak-young, Yoon Hu-deok, Park Jung, So Byung-hoon, Song Ok-ju, Lee Kwang-jae, and Lee Eon-ju.
Senior advisers include former National Assembly Speakers Kim Jin-pyo and Moon Hee-sang, along with former lawmakers Won Hye-young and Kim Sang-hee. Kim Young-jin will serve as chief senior coordinator of the General Campaign Headquarters, with Lee Jae-jung and Baek Hye-ryun leading day-to-day operations. The Comprehensive Situation Headquarters will be led by Min Byung-deok and Lee Soo-jin, with Yeom Tae-young and Lee Sang-sik as deputy directors responsible for situational management and field response.
The candidate’s immediate offices are also centered on National Assembly members. Jeon Yong-gi will serve as chief of staff. Park Sang-hyuk will lead public relations as chief spokesperson, with Kim Hyun-jung, Kim Seong-hoe, Park Ji-hye, and Bu Seung-chan joining as spokespeople. Kim Yong-min will head political affairs, with Lee Ki-heon as his deputy.
The campaign also established special committees for policy response: the Semiconductor Strategy Committee (Lee Sang-sik, Kim Hyun-jung), the AI Transition Committee (Cha Ji-ho, Kim Yong-man), the Peace Economy Committee (Yoon Hu-deok, Lee Jae-gang), and the Urban, Transportation and Livelihood Committee (Lee So-young, Son Myung-soo). Separate teams will focus on everyday issues such as the local economy, vulnerable social groups, and regulatory reform.
Directly under the General Campaign Headquarters, the campaign established teams for TV debates, special advisors, election-integrity practices, and legal support. It also set up headquarters for administration, strategy, policy, publicity, organization, and campaigning, along with dedicated units for youth, women, small business owners, labor, and climate constituencies.
This second round of appointments completes a front-line organization built around National Assembly members. The structure is intended to respond not only to the metropolitan gubernatorial race but also to municipal and local assembly contests, pairing local networks with policy capacity as a strategic approach.
The campaign plans to hold a full launch ceremony early this month. Choo said, “With a campaign committee that includes every National Assembly member from Gyeonggi, we will meet residents and let our policies form the basis of their judgment.”
