How to Prepare for the 2026 Music Academy Auditions: Tips for Aspiring Musicians

The Seoul Arts Center will hold live performance auditions to select new students for the 54th class of its Music Gifted Academy.

The auditions aim to identify the next generation of musicians who will shape South Korea’s music scene. The academy is inviting applicants in piano, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, French horn, trumpet and composition. As of May 2026, eligible applicants range from second grade in elementary school to second year of middle school, though specific grade requirements differ by discipline. This year, the cello category has been expanded to accept applicants through second-year middle school.

The application period runs from 2 p.m. on May 13 to 5 p.m. on May 15. Applications must be submitted via Naver Form. Instrumental candidates are required to perform one free-choice piece; composition candidates must submit one free-choice piece and their score. The live auditions will be held on May 31, and successful applicants will be announced at 5 p.m. on June 16.

Selected students will study with distinguished faculty and follow a structured curriculum. They will also have opportunities to perform on the Seoul Arts Center stage, including at the \"Music Gifted Concert.\" Now in its 27th year, the Seoul Arts Center Music Gifted Academy has produced artists such as Seong-Jin Cho, Yunchan Lim and In-mo Yang.
