Daejang Meat House, owned by Song Young-hwan, in Jisan-dong, Suseong District, Daegu, hosted a free meal for local seniors on May 7 to celebrate Parents' Day.
The event welcomed 38 local seniors. Daejang Meat House served dinner featuring samgyeopsal (pork belly) and handed out carnations and small gifts. The meal was organized by the Daejang Meat House Volunteer Team, a free-meal volunteer group founded by owner Song Young-hwan.
Song says he picked up a spirit of giving early by volunteering alongside his parents. Since opening the restaurant, he has continued those efforts through free meal services, cooking volunteer work and overseas volunteer trips to Cambodia.
\"I've volunteered wherever help was needed, no matter how small,\" he said. \"Now I want to share warmth with others, not just volunteer on my own.\"
\"I formed the Daejang Meat House Volunteer Team so staff and neighbors could get involved in volunteering more easily,\" he added. \"This Parents' Day free-meal event was organized in that same spirit.\"
