NEXZ will release their second single, the 2nd album 'Mmchk,' on the 27th and will promote it with the title track of the same name. In the run-up to the release, the group dropped a steady stream of teasers; on the afternoon of the 15th they posted a second set of concept photos to their official social channels that drew strong attention.
Those teasers lean into a quirky, endearing mood, turning each member’s distinct personality into deliberately kitschy personas. Tomoya holds a cake bristling with long candles; Yuu spits water he’d been holding in his mouth; Haru grips a burger that appears to be on fire; Sogeon eats cake with his hands; Seita presses an insect-shaped toy to his face; Huey sprawls amid fallen cream, bread and snacks; and Yuki lights a marshmallow with a large flame. They don’t shy away from antics designed to elicit reactions.
The seven members—playful and mischievous—smear the new single’s title across their mouths and cheeks and even onto walls and floors. They shape flames and scorch marks into hearts, projecting NEXZ’s hip, freewheeling energy amid a chaotic, anything-goes party. Posing on a table set for a meal, they reject preset standards and follow their own impulses — a demonstration of the 'NEXZ Way' as unapologetic rule-breakers.
The title 'Mmchk' captures the little sound or presence NEXZ sends out to nudge at the world’s predictable conventions. The release of the same-named single underscores their distinct identity. The group participated in writing lyrics for every track, signaling their emergence as a next-generation self-producing act. Yuki, Huey and Tomoya co-wrote the title track 'Mmchk,' and leader Tomoya teamed with youngest member Yuki on the second track, 'Hype Man.'
NEXZ will release the second single 'Mmchk' at 6 p.m. on the 27th, and will hold a comeback showcase, 'NEXZ Comeback Showcase: Mmchk,' at 8 p.m. that same day to perform the new material for fans.
