[SPOTV News = Reporter Kim Won-gyeom] The voices that helped complete the emotional core of Studio Ghibli’s films are coming to Seoul.
Studio Ghibli will present the Original Singers' first concert in Korea, The Music of STUDIO GHIBLI Original Singers Symphony, on June 6 at Yonsei University’s main auditorium in Sinchon, Seoul. The event is more than an orchestral show: it brings the original vocalists who shaped Ghibli’s soundtracks to the stage in Korea.
The program features many of the studio’s best-loved films. Original songs from My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Howl’s Moving Castle and other signature titles will be performed live by four original singers, accompanied by a sweeping orchestral performance from the Tokyo Asia Orchestra. The combination promises memorable moments for audiences.
It’s a rare opportunity to see the original singers from Studio Ghibli’s films together on one stage in Korea. For fans, meeting the voices that completed those films’ emotional impact makes this concert especially significant.
Organizers also released a special message for fans. In a video posted on CORKS’ official social channels, singers Sumi Shimamoto, Azumi Inoue and Yuyu said, “We look forward to meeting Ghibli fans in Korea. See you at the concert.” The message has heightened anticipation for the group’s first visit.
An event representative said the performance won’t simply reproduce notes on a page. “The original singers will take the stage to rekindle the memories audiences felt while watching the films,” the representative said. “We’re preparing a high-quality production that aims to faithfully recreate the originals’ emotional power and appeal to all generations.”
