Soprano Sumi Jo held a press conference on May 6 at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Seoul’s Gangnam district to mark the 40th anniversary of her world-stage debut. At the event, Jo described the meaning of the anniversary project and outlined her plans moving forward.
As the first step in the project, Jo teamed up with SM Entertainment’s classical and jazz label, SM Classics, to release a special album titled "CONTINUUM." The record contains 11 tracks that reflect her past journey and new artistic explorations, and it features a duet with Suho of EXO as well as a guest appearance by violinist Danny Gu.

Reflecting on the anniversary project, Jo said, "I want to continue making music that leaves a lasting resonance in people's hearts." She added that she hopes the upcoming commemorative performances will both express gratitude for the past and invite audiences to join her on a new chapter of her journey.
Jo’s 40th-anniversary program will begin with the album and continue with a nationwide tour and the second Sumi Jo International Vocal Competition. The tour launches in Changwon on May 9 and will visit about 20 cities through December. The second Sumi Jo International Vocal Competition is scheduled for July in the Loire region of France.
