By Eun‑hye Ahn | The Public — Hanwha General Insurance said on March 26 that it has signed an MOU with auto-safety tech firm Sky Autonet to strengthen accident prevention and simplify the insurance-buying process for customers.
Hanwha said the agreement goes beyond a standard technology tie-up. It pairs advanced safety devices with insurance products to improve real-world accident prevention while delivering clearer benefits to policyholders.
At the March 24 signing, the companies agreed to cooperate on promoting a safer driving culture and reducing traffic accidents, making it easier for customers to purchase insurance, and expanding services through the analysis of driving data.
Sky Autonet’s pedal-misapplication prevention device, Dr. Safe, received special approval through the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s regulatory sandbox.
To encourage broader adoption, Hanwha will introduce the industry’s first Pedal Misapplication Prevention Device discount endorsement.
Factory-equipped vehicles will have the discount applied automatically without additional steps. Owners of vehicles with the device installed as an option can receive a 5% premium discount after submitting proof of installation.
Hanwha also plans system integration so customers who purchase and install Dr. Safe receive the discount without filing a separate application. The endorsement is slated to launch in April.
A Hanwha official said, \"Through this agreement, we expect to deliver new customer value by combining accident-prevention technology with insurance.\" The official added that the company will continue expanding products and services aimed at preventing traffic accidents and promoting safer driving.
