A tailor's incredible handiwork that turned a badly damaged piece of clothing into what looks like a work of art has gone viral.
On May 5, an online community post titled "Kolon is seriously crazy" appeared. The poster, identified only as A, said they had recently bought a coat at a Kolon sale and then fell off their bike, tearing the pocket badly.
Afterward, A brought the coat to Kolon's repair center, where staff warned a perfect restoration would be difficult. The repair cost totaled 24,000 KRW (18 USD); with a 20,000 KRW (15 USD) subsidy, A paid just 4,000 KRW (3 USD) out of pocket.
Skeptical when they were told embroidery was the only option, A dropped off the coat anyway — and was stunned when it arrived by courier. "Honestly, if it had come back a mess I probably wouldn't have worn it anymore, but the embroidery color blends so naturally with the fabric. I'm really relieved," they said.
The photos shared with the post showed the pocket torn wide open. After the repair, a delicate tree motif had been embroidered in a khaki thread that perfectly matched the jacket, prompting praise from onlookers.
A said they briefly thought big-brand clothes aren't automatically better, and added that they're simply grateful to the person who fixed it.
