By Go Nari, EPN Enpinow — Chae-yeon turned heads on KBS2's Immortal Songs, revealing the personal routines she uses to stay youthful while maintaining a look that makes her age hard to place.
KBS2's Immortal Songs is set to air its 754th episode on May 2, a special that casts a spotlight on composer Joo Young-hoon and the wide-ranging hits that define his career.
A lineup of younger artists will reinterpret Joo Young-hoon's signature tracks. Scheduled performers include Kim Ki-tae, Sandeul, Soran, Son Seung-yeon and Cho Hyung-kyun, Aiki, Rihei and Hyojin Choi, Choi Jin-hyuk, Chae-yeon, NEXZ, Billlie, and D82.
MC Kim Jun-hyun remarked that Chae-yeon hasn't changed much since her debut. Chae-yeon laughed and admitted, "I used to move 60 times per minute back then, but now even 40 is hard," drawing laughter from the studio.
She said she often loses track of her age and credited a kind of playful immaturity and a positive outlook for keeping her feeling young. Chae-yeon described a regimen of light daily exercise, mindful nutrition, and ample rest to maintain her health, and added wryly that she does get modest cosmetic procedures at levels comparable to what others choose.
In the green room, the signature bridge from Chae-yeon's hit "Duri-seo" — the "nana na swa~" line — was expected to raise the energy. Joo Young-hoon, however, revealed that the song's original melody traces back to Koyote's "Bimong," setting the stage for a lively debate.
You can catch Immortal Songs every Saturday at 6:05 p.m. on KBS2.
