A Hong Kong star’s wife has set off an online stir after posting photos of a foot soak in mala hot-pot broth.
Recently, Moka Pang (Fang Yuan, 38), a model and the wife of Hong Kong pop star and actor Aaron Kwok, shared her daily self-care routine on her Xiaohongshu account.

Pang typically posts warm family moments with her two daughters and behind-the-scenes photoshoots. What surprised followers this time was an image of her taking a mala hot-pot foot bath.
In the photo, Pang soaks her feet in a large bowl of hot-pot broth. Viewers reacted with disbelief, asking whether she had used her husband’s prized hot-pot pot for a foot bath or whether the broth was leftover from a meal.
Calmly addressing the reaction, Pang explained that this is a traditional foot-bath treatment from Chongqing. She emphasized the broth is made specifically for soaking and is not leftover food.
She also posted images of a dedicated foot-bath vessel whose ingredients differ from regular hot-pot stock. The special mixture is heavy on dried chilies, ginger and a variety of medicinal spices.

Pang said the treatment is believed to help the body expel excess “dampness,” a concept rooted in traditional Chinese medicine that emphasizes detoxification and circulation.
Rather than turning to aromatherapy or massage, she relies on the heat from spicy seasonings as part of her regimen. The unconventional mix of culinary tradition and folk medicine has drawn attention around the world.
