[EPN Enpinow reporter Yoon Dong-geun] Tottenham is at the center of a managerial firestorm after a dramatic collapse in form.

The situation surrounding Ange Postecoglou—who guided the club to its first Europa League title in 17 years only to be dismissed soon afterward—remains a hot-button issue in the British press and among supporters.

On March 6, Football London reported that former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood sharply criticized the club’s decision, calling it “wrong to push Postecoglou out.”

Although Postecoglou finished the 2024–25 Premier League campaign in 17th place, he delivered a long-awaited European trophy for the club.

After deliberation following the Europa League triumph, the club’s board chose to part ways with Postecoglou and appointed Thomas Frank, formerly of Brentford, as his successor.

But under the new coach, Tottenham’s results and dressing-room mood declined.

Frank presided over an eight-game winless stretch, and problems with leadership and lax discipline quickly emerged.

Fan anger over Frank’s public praise of Arsenal only intensified calls for another managerial change.

Ultimately, following continued poor form, Frank was relieved of his duties and Igor Tudor was named interim manager.

Even after Tudor’s arrival, Tottenham sit on the brink of the relegation zone with a league record of 7 wins, 8 draws and 14 losses.

Despite having secured a spot in the Champions League, the team’s downward trajectory in the league has raised serious concern.

Sherwood argued that “you can’t ignore Postecoglou’s European triumph,” and added, “If I had taken charge, I wouldn’t have sacked him.”

He also noted that, contrary to Tudor’s confident remarks on arrival, results and the squad’s atmosphere have turned negative.

Sherwood pointed out that Postecoglou faced challenges soon after moving to Nottingham Forest, underscoring that a single trophy in one season does not settle a manager’s overall evaluation.

Tottenham will meet Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 on March 11.

Tudor stressed that avoiding relegation in the Premier League is the immediate priority, while also calling for the squad to make progress.
