An will take the court in the women's singles final at the 2026 Ningbo Asian Badminton Championships on April 12. ENA will carry the match live, giving viewers at home a front-row seat to a potentially historic moment.
Fresh off guiding South Korea's women to their first-ever team title at the 2026 Qingdao Asian Badminton Team Championships, An has kept her momentum rolling into this tournament. She now aims for gold at Asia's premier individual event. On April 11 at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center, she beat No. 19 Shim Yu-jin in straight sets, 2-0 (21-14, 21-9), in the semifinals.
In the final, An will face the winner of the Wang Ziyi (China, No. 2) vs. Yamaguchi Akane (Japan, No. 4) semifinal as she races toward a golden Grand Slam.
The Asian Championships bring together powerhouse nations—Korea, China, Japan and top Southeast Asian teams—and rank among the highest-profile individual events on the BWF World Tour, roughly equivalent to a Super 1000 tournament. For An, this title has been the lone major missing from an otherwise stellar résumé, widely regarded as the final piece in her Grand Slam bid.
An already owns the sport's three biggest titles: the 2023 World Championships, the Hangzhou Asian Games gold, and the 2024 Paris Olympic gold. Adding the Asian Championship would complete the badminton Grand Slam and cement her place in the record books.
Having held the world No. 1 ranking for 78 consecutive weeks, a win in Ningbo would further elevate An’s standing—both statistically and symbolically—among the sport’s all-time greats.
Park Cheol-min, ENA's head of programming, said, \"This final means far more than a single trophy—it will determine whether An Se-young completes a Grand Slam that will go down in badminton history. We decided to broadcast the match live so domestic fans can share this historic moment together.\"
The 2026 Ningbo Asian Badminton Championships final featuring An Se-young will air live on ENA on April 12.
