[EPN Enpinow reporter Yoon Dong-geun] Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer endured an embarrassing night in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal.

Neuer conceded five goals and did not record a single save in the 2025–26 Champions League semifinal first leg in Paris against PSG.

Bayern drew first blood when Harry Kane converted a penalty early, but PSG’s relentless attack soon put them on the back foot. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembélé each scored multiple times as PSG piled on five goals.

In the second half, Bayern mounted a fightback—cutting the deficit from 2–5 with two quick goals—but couldn’t find an equalizer and fell 4–5.

Officially, Neuer did not record a single save. It’s the first time a Bayern goalkeeper has conceded five goals in a Champions League semifinal without making a save.

According to U.S. sports outlet ESPN, Neuer became the first goalkeeper in 16 Champions League knockout seasons to concede five or more goals without making a save—an unwanted milestone.

After the match, Neuer said in the mixed zone, “Everyone saw the goals. From a goalkeeper’s perspective, those situations were very difficult to stop.”

He added, “There were a couple of moments where I nearly got a touch. Today we were a bit unlucky,” suggesting that bad fortune, rather than clear errors, played a part.

Indeed, many of PSG’s goals came from shots that were extremely difficult to save, and Bayern’s defense looked unsteady at times—a combination that produced the heavy scoreline.

Neuer vowed, “Conceding five goals unsettles both the defense and the goalkeeper. We’ll accept the reality and work to bounce back.”

Bayern now face a must-win second leg if they hope to turn the tie around.
