Kiwoom defeated Doosan 5-2 on April 7 at Seoul’s Jamsil Stadium in a 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League matchup.
The victory halted Kiwoom’s two-game slide and moved them to 3-6 on the season. Doosan dropped to 2-1-6.
Kiwoom starter Bae Dong-hyun delivered a strong outing, tossing 5 1/3 innings while allowing five hits, striking out four, issuing two walks and surrendering two runs to earn his second win of the year. Choi Ju-hwan drove in two runs on one hit to pace the offense.
Doosan starter Choi Seung-yong also pitched well, going five innings with three hits, five strikeouts, two walks and two runs (one earned). But reliever Yang Jae-hoon lasted just one inning — allowing one hit, striking out four, walking one and giving up one run — and was charged with the loss. Lee Yong-chan struggled in relief, failing to record an out while allowing two hits and two runs.
Kiwoom got on the board in the top of the first. With two outs and runners at first and third after walks by Brooks and An Chi-hong and a productive advance by Lee Ju-hyung, Choi Ju-hwan lined an RBI single to give Kiwoom an early 1-0 lead.
The Heroes extended the lead in the second. After a hit by Lee Hyung-jong and a productive advance by Park Han-gyeol put a runner on second with one out, Doosan’s catcher miscued a play, allowing Kiwoom to tack on another run and go up 2-0.
Doosan fought back in the bottom of the third. Following a triple by Kim Min-seok, Lee Yoo-chan delivered a sacrifice fly to trim the deficit to 2-1.
In the fourth, Doosan tied the game. With one out and the bases loaded on hits by Ahn Jae-seok and Yang Eui-ji and a walk to Park Chan-ho, Yang Seok-hwan hit a sacrifice fly to even the score at 2-2.
Kiwoom reclaimed the lead in the top of the sixth. After Lee Ju-hyung singled and Choi Ju-hwan drew a walk to put runners at second and third with two outs, a wild pitch produced a run and pushed Kiwoom ahead 3-2.
In the seventh, Kiwoom broke the game open. Consecutive hits by Eo Jun-seo, Brooks and An Chi-hong loaded the bases, and an RBI groundout by Lee Ju-young plus a sacrifice fly from Choi Ju-hwan extended the lead to 5-2.
With the momentum, Kiwoom shut down Doosan over the final innings to close out the win. The game ended with a 5-2 Kiwoom victory.
