The 10th Nitax Cup National Masil Screen Park Golf Tournament was held recently.
Hosted by Masil, the screen park-golf platform, the event played out on the virtual Namdaemun AB Course. Competitors battled in the simulator on a course framed by the iconic Namdaemun gate.
Delegations from the Japan Park Golf Association (NPGA) and equipment maker Nitax attended. On the Japanese side were NPGA president Yoshiaki Dozen, executive director Tomoaki Hama, secretary-general Koetsu Sakai, Nitax chairman Kiyoshi Nitta and plant manager Takahiro Moro. Representing Korea were Lee Seong-su, president of the Daegu City Park Golf Association, and Professor Kim Man-seok of Daegu Health College.
In the individual competition, Shin Yong-jeong (Ulsan Buk-gu branch) won the men’s title at 12-under, while Park Young-ran (Geoje branch) captured the women’s title at 12-under. In the team event, Chuncheon Condor upset defending champions Ulsan Buk-gu to claim first place.
The event also featured a prize drawing. The top prize — a Kia Ray — went to Kim Dong-hwa of the Donga Gangbuk branch.
Special awards were presented as well. Hwang Tae-sang, head of the Korea Startup Center, handed out the Super Rookie Award to Kim Se-jin of Chuncheon and four others. The Silver Star Award for senior competitors was given to five players, led by Choi Jin-su of Ilsan Samsong.

A Masil representative said the 10th tournament demonstrated that screen park golf is taking hold as a cultural sport, thanks to the launch of the Namdaemun virtual course and exchanges between the Korean and Japanese associations. The company plans to keep staging nationwide events that members can enjoy together.
