Authorities have released personal information about Park Wang-yeol, who was provisionally repatriated to South Korea on charges that include domestic drug distribution.
On March 27, police said the Personal Information Disclosure Review Committee voted to disclose the suspect’s name, age and mug shot: Park Wang-yeol, 47.
Park was repatriated to South Korea on March 25. He is accused of killing three South Koreans in the Philippines and, while serving a sentence there, of orchestrating large-scale drug trafficking into South Korea. His privileged treatment in the Philippine prison provoked controversy and has been described as “imperial incarceration.”
The Gyeonggi Northern Police Agency posted his personal information on its website after confirming that a detention warrant had been issued. The posting will run from March 27 through April 27.
