Police have opened an investigation into allegations that the chairman of a university in North Jeolla Province accepted golf hospitality from professors at his institution.
On the 9th, the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Investigation Unit of the North Jeolla Provincial Police Agency said it received a complaint last month alleging that Chairman A violated the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.
The complaint alleges that between 2021 and 2024, A played golf with university professors in and around Gwangju and South Jeolla Province, after which the professors were asked to cover roughly 1 million KRW (about $670) in expenses.
Police are currently probing the allegations.
A police official said, \"We completed the complainant's interview earlier this month. Because the case is under investigation, we cannot disclose further details.\"
