Uiwang City began operating a student shuttle loop bus on April 30 to provide safer, more convenient travel to and from school for students living in the Naeson, Poil and Cheonggye neighborhoods.
The shuttle was introduced to address the challenges faced by students with limited access to public transit, who previously relied on long walks or multiple transfers.
The route serves Forest Village (Complexes 1, 3, 5 and 4), major apartment complexes in Naeson-dong, and Cheonggye Village (including Humansia and Forest). It connects key schools such as Deokjang Middle School, Naeson Elementary School, Naeson Middle and High Schools, and Baekwoon High School.
Buses are concentrated during morning drop-off hours. The shuttle operates twice daily, with return trips scheduled to match each school's dismissal times, and a flexible schedule on Wednesdays to improve student convenience.
A city official said, \"Launching this shuttle goes beyond expanding transportation; it is a core policy aimed at ensuring student safety and improving the local educational environment. We will closely analyze demand after operations begin and actively consider expanding routes and improving service.\"
Service times may vary depending on traffic. Riders can check real-time arrival information via the Gyeonggi Bus Information system and through portal apps.
City officials expect the new shuttle to reduce long walks for students and significantly ease parents' transportation burdens.
