Korea Southern Power Co. (KOSPO) has launched an energy-welfare initiative to improve housing for vulnerable households in Hadong County. The program targets residents left in welfare blind spots around the power plant, upgrading aging homes to boost energy efficiency and overall living conditions.

Korea Southern Power said on the 17th that its Hadong Bitdream office held a sponsorship handover ceremony for the \"KOSPO Happy DREAM\" housing-improvement project the previous day in Geumnam-myeon, Hadong County.

The project was financed with 27,000,000 KRW (approximately $20,250 USD) that the Hadong Bitdream office donated to the Community Chest of Korea in November last year. In cooperation with Hadong County, KOSPO selected three vulnerable households near the plant to receive support.

The assistance focused on interior and exterior repairs and equipment upgrades. KOSPO carried out insulation and other home repairs, installed boilers, and converted kitchens to standing-style layouts to raise energy efficiency and improve living conditions in the aging homes.

Officials from Hadong County and Geumnam-myeon attended the handover ceremony, where project progress and the specifics of the support were shared on site.

\"KOSPO Happy DREAM\" is a community outreach project the Hadong Bitdream office has operated since 2017. Now in its 10th year, the program selects three to four vulnerable households each year and provides sustained housing-stability support.

To date, KOSPO has assisted a total of 28 households with a cumulative investment of 208,000,000 KRW (approximately $156,000 USD). Observers say the program is significant because it has steadily improved living conditions for vulnerable residents rather than offering one-off aid.

Lee Young-jae, head of KOSPO's Hadong Bitdream office, said, \"'KOSPO Happy DREAM' reflects our sincere commitment to coexist with the local community. We will continue to fulfill our role as a public company in addressing energy-welfare blind spots and protecting vulnerable people.\"
