
In Naju, South Jeolla Province, a woman in her 60s suffered severe burns after a fire ignited while she was burning weeds.
According to the Naju Fire Department, a report came in at about 1:02 p.m. on March 14 of a fire on the hill behind a church in Pungsan-ri, Dado-myeon.
Fire crews deployed nine vehicles and 23 personnel and extinguished the blaze by 1:27 p.m., 25 minutes after the initial call.
At the scene, a woman in her 60s identified only as Ms. A sustained third-degree burns over much of her body and was taken to a hospital.
Fire officials say the fire likely started when Ms. A was burning agricultural residue and other vegetation; they are investigating the exact cause.
