Authorities have released the identity of a man in his 20s accused of beating his mother-in-law to death in Daegu and dumping her body.
Daegu Police convened a public disclosure review committee today (8th) and released the name, age and a photograph of 26-year-old Jo Jae-bok.
The committee said the brutality of the crime and the severity of the harm, together with ample evidence and the public interest, justified making his identity public.
Police say Jo allegedly beat his mother-in-law for hours last month at an officetel (a small mixed-use apartment common in Korea) in Jung-gu, Daegu, killing her, placing her body in a suitcase and dumping it along the Sincheon riverbank.
Police are scheduled to transfer Jo to prosecutors tomorrow (9th) on charges of murdering a senior family member and disposing of a body. They will also forward his wife, identified as Ms. Choi, to prosecutors on a charge of disposing of a body.
