A video has emerged showing a man violently assaulting a French nun in broad daylight in Jerusalem. The footage shows the man approaching the nun from behind as she walked, suddenly pushing her to the ground and kicking her. Police tracked down and arrested a 36-year-old man identified in the video as the suspect. Israel’s Foreign Ministry condemned the act as disgraceful and expressed condolences and solidarity with the nun and her parish. The incident comes after a recent controversy in Israel when a photo circulated showing an Israeli soldier deployed to southern Lebanon smashing a statue of Jesus with a hammer.
