After attending a joint Easter service at Yoido Full Gospel Church on April 5, President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-gyeong made an impromptu stop on Yeouido’s Yunjung-ro to engage with visitors enjoying the cherry blossoms.
Blue House chief spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung said the presidential couple spent time speaking with people from all walks of life on Yunjung-ro, including elderly visitors who came alone, foreign nationals, and families with children.
When young couples carrying infants and newlyweds requested photos, the president emphasized that newlyweds are particularly important.
At one point, a child shouted, “Take a picture with Grandpa President!” A presidential aide replied, “Not ‘Grandpa President’ — call him ‘sir’!” which drew laughter from First Lady Kim and nearby visitors, Kang added.
