Rogers, Coupang CEO, inspects relief supplies
\"We'll fulfill our social responsibility with Rocket Delivery\"
Coupang announced on the 14th that it will operate an \"Emergency Relief Coupang Hope Box\" program that uses its nationwide Rocket Delivery logistics network to quickly deliver emergency supplies to disaster victims. The initiative aims to establish an initial national disaster response system based on the company’s countrywide logistics infrastructure. Coupang will maintain a stockpile of 2,500 emergency relief sets at its Sejong fulfillment center — a hub capable of linking deliveries to major regions nationwide — and will ship them immediately when a disaster occurs. The emergency kits consist of 10 items: a living box, a quilted comforter, a pillow, towels, socks, compressed wet wipes, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a soap and foam-net toiletry pouch, and a foldable three-stage mattress. If a disaster is prolonged or the scale of damage grows, Coupang will produce and distribute additional relief items based on conditions on the ground.
In connection with the program, Harold Rogers, interim CEO of Coupang Korea, visited the fulfillment center storing the relief supplies on the 13th of this month to inspect operations. He opened an emergency relief box to check the condition of its contents and reviewed loading and dispatch routes.
Jeong Seok-yoon, executive director of disaster relief NGO Peace Winds Korea, said, \"Speed of initial response matters most at disaster sites. Combining Coupang's nationwide logistics network with its delivery capabilities should enable faster, more reliable emergency aid.\"
Rogers said, \"We intend to apply the Rocket Delivery system we built for customer service to emergency relief efforts to fulfill our social responsibility,\" adding, \"We will work to address challenges at disaster sites and provide tangible assistance to victims.\"
