Shincheonji invited about 250 local seniors and Vietnam War veterans to a thank-you event.

On May 8, Shincheonji Cheongju Church hosted a Parents' Day appreciation event, inviting about 250 local seniors and Vietnam War veterans. The church organized the event to express gratitude and respect for those who have served the community and the nation.

The program opened with lively nongak (traditional Korean folk percussion) and other traditional music, followed by a commemorative speech, the presentation of carnations, folk and trot performances, and lunch. Young volunteers pinned carnations on attendees and offered wishes for their health while expressing thanks. The seniors responded with bright smiles, creating a warm atmosphere.

A medley of folk and trot songs followed onstage, and attendees clapped along and enjoyed the performances. After the program, participants took commemorative photos at a photo area. For lunch, organizers served carefully prepared dishes such as seolleongtang (ox-bone soup), fruit, and boiled pork, which received positive feedback from guests.

Attendee Bok-rye Choi said, "I'm happy just to receive flowers, but I was moved that they prepared performances and a meal," calling the time joyful. Vietnam War veteran Man-bok Kim added, "We're grateful simply to be remembered and invited," noting that the young volunteers' warm hospitality made the day even more meaningful.

Pastor Jae-joon Byun said in his commemorative speech, "Parents' Day is an important time to reflect on our parents' love and the value of respecting elders," and pledged, "We will continue to honor God and serve local seniors by practicing neighborly love."

As part of its community service, Shincheonji Cheongju Church continues regular plogging and cleanup activities and maintains ongoing exchanges with residents through visits to local businesses and senior centers. The church said it will continue partnering with the community through a variety of outreach and volunteer programs.

The event strengthened ties with the local community and provided an opportunity to express respect and gratitude to area seniors.
