
Police arrested two foreign men who threatened a pedestrian and stole his cash roughly eight hours after the incident in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
The Hwaseong Western Police Station said on the 7th that it made emergency arrests of A and B, two foreign men in their 30s, on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
According to police, at about 1:30 a.m. the men confronted and threatened C, a man in his 20s from Uzbekistan, on a street in Hyangnam-eup, Hwaseong, forced him to hand over cash, and fled.
At about 5:10 a.m., the victim reported the theft to police. Investigators reviewed nearby CCTV footage to trace the suspects' movements.
Police arrested A around 10 a.m. in the Hyangnam-eup area, roughly eight and a half hours after the incident, while he was driving. They located and detained B around 7 p.m. the same day in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, as he attempted to flee.
Investigators determined the suspects and the victim did not know each other.
Police said they will investigate the motive and circumstances and then decide whether to seek arrest warrants.
