Jecheon Police in North Chungcheong Province said on March 24 that it had arrested a man in his 50s, identified only as A, on suspicion of attempting to kill his ex-wife.
According to authorities, A allegedly went to a restaurant in Jecheon run by his ex-wife B’s family around 6 p.m. on March 20, carrying a weapon and intending to kill her.
B’s family, who witnessed the incident, locked the restaurant door and thwarted the attack.
After returning home, A called 112 and said, "I'm going to kill my wife." Police, deeming the call suspicious, dispatched officers and arrested A at his home.
Officials said A, who divorced B three years ago, attempted the attack amid recent disputes over a relationship matter.
