[Sports Today reporter Song Oh-jung] Police have added an obstruction charge for interfering with a breathalyzer test under the Road Traffic Act against actor Lee Jae-ryong.

On the 13th, Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station filed the additional obstruction charge against Lee, who was already under investigation for suspected drunk driving and failing to take appropriate action after an accident.

Police say Lee allegedly attempted a tactic known as \"sul-tagi\" — after the crash, he fled the scene and drank more alcohol to make it harder to determine his blood-alcohol concentration at the time of the accident.

Around 11 p.m. on the 6th, Lee is accused of striking a center divider near Cheongdam Station in Gangnam and fleeing the scene. He then parked the vehicle at his home without taking other steps and was later found at an acquaintance’s residence. Authorities say his blood-alcohol concentration was reportedly at a level warranting a license suspension.

In his first police interview on the 10th, Lee bowed his head and apologized, saying he was sorry for causing concern. He said he did not realize he had been in an accident and denied allegations of attempting \"sul-tagi.\"

However, investigators say that after parking his car, Lee walked about 20 minutes to a nearby restaurant and joined another drinking gathering. There, he and acquaintances ordered one bottle of distilled liquor and two portions of meat.

Police have not yet confirmed whether Lee actually drank at that gathering, but they say the circumstances indicate a possible attempt to alter or obscure his alcohol level.
