According to a report by JoongAng Ilbo on March 9th, the Gangnam Police Department in Seoul revealed that Lee had consumed four shots of soju prior to the incident.
Lee's representatives claim that he initially believed he had only lightly grazed the median barrier.
Suspicions arose that Lee may have engaged in "sul-tagi," a practice where individuals consume additional alcohol after an accident to interfere with breathalyzer tests. Lee's team has denied any intention to obstruct the investigation.
Lee's attorney stated, "On Saturday afternoon, the day following the incident, Mr. Lee acknowledged his drunk driving and provided his account to the police. We have already scheduled a date for a formal police interview." The lawyer added, "He is deeply remorseful for his actions and sincerely apologizes for causing public concern."
Lee is accused of colliding with a median barrier while driving near Cheongdam Station in Gangnam around 11 PM on the 6th and subsequently fleeing the scene. After the incident, he reportedly parked his vehicle at home and visited a friend's residence. Police apprehended Lee at approximately 2 AM on the 7th, about three hours after the accident. His blood alcohol concentration at the time was reportedly high enough to warrant a license suspension.
