The Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation (KOEM), led by Chair Kang Yong-seok, announced on March 10 that it has published and distributed the 2026 Oil Spill Response Equipment Manual to strengthen its capacity to respond to marine pollution incidents.
The manual provides clear, practical guidance to help responders quickly select and deploy the right equipment at spill sites, improving both safety and operational efficiency.
It catalogs a range of eco-friendly, domestically produced response tools KOEM developed in-house, including electric-driven oil skimmers, pumps for transferring high-viscosity oil, and robotic surface oil-recovery units.
KOEM also issued the manual as an e-book so teams can access it on mobile devices in the field.
\"I hope this manual serves as a practical guide for coordinated, unambiguous responses to marine pollution incidents amid changing technologies,\" KOEM Chair Kang Yong-seok said.
The Response Equipment Manual is available on KOEM's e-book website.
