Muan County Governor Kim San met with Rep. Kim Won to discuss plans to attract semiconductor companies to the RE100 National Industrial Complex.
Muan County in South Jeolla Province said on March 10 that Governor Kim visited Rep. Kim Won’s district office on March 7. Kim Won, the ranking member of the National Assembly’s Industry, Trade and Small and Medium Enterprises Committee, and the governor discussed the need to attract semiconductor firms to the RE100 National Industrial Complex.
Governor Kim said the Muan RE100 National Industrial Complex already has the infrastructure semiconductor companies require: a renewable-energy-based power grid, industrial water supplies, and sizable industrial sites. He also highlighted the site's strong connectivity, citing Muan International Airport, KTX high-speed rail, and nearby highways.
He asked the central government for focused policy support and resources to help the county expand its industrial base and revive the local economy by attracting semiconductor manufacturers.
Rep. Kim Won said, “Muan County has the site conditions necessary to develop a semiconductor industrial park,” and added that he will work to ensure discussions with the central government align local needs with the development of national strategic industries.
Muan County plans to continue pursuing efforts to attract advanced industries, including semiconductor firms, anchored by the development of the RE100 National Industrial Complex.
