Translation result이재명 President Lee Jae-myung said on the 20th that the controversy surrounding Unification Minister Jeong Dong-young’s comment about so-called "assembled nuclear facilities" is “a fact already widely known around the world.”

That afternoon on his X (formerly Twitter), the president wrote, “The existence of assembled nuclear facilities is a clear fact that academic papers and news reports have already made widely known around the world,” and added, “Any claims or actions that assume Minister Jeong ‘leaked classified information provided by the U.S.’ are wrong.”

He said he will look into why such an absurd situation has arisen.

The president also shared an article reporting that information-sharing between Seoul and Washington has partially halted since Minister Jeong’s remarks, and that opposition parties are calling for the minister’s dismissal based on that controversy.

Earlier, Minister Jeong told reporters at the Seoul Government Complex, “I suspect there were ulterior motives behind suddenly raising this issue.” He avoided specifying whether he believed the party that raised the matter was the United States or the opposition.
