The Public — Reporter Oh Hong-ji: Lee Wan-cheol, the Democratic Party’s preliminary candidate for the North Chungcheong (Chungcheongbuk-do) Provincial Council, opened his campaign office and formally launched his campaign.
On April 28, Lee held an opening ceremony at his campaign office and, joined by supporters and local officials, outlined his reasons for running and his vision for the region.
The program opened with an inaugural ceremony and national observances, followed by introductions of guests, congratulatory remarks, words of encouragement, a review of the candidate’s background, and the candidate’s address.
Attending the event were Lee Jae-han, chair of the Democratic Party’s Goesan–Boeun–Okcheon–Yeongdong regional committee; Park Moon-hee, former chair of the North Chungcheong Provincial Council; Lee Cha-young, a preliminary candidate for Goesan County mayor; county council members; and preliminary candidates from several districts.
Former local councilors, regional elders, and youth committee leaders also attended and voiced their support.
In his remarks, Lee said, “Today is not just the opening of a campaign office. I view this as a promise for a better tomorrow for Goesan.” He added, “We face significant challenges together: population decline, a weak local economy, and real problems in agriculture.”
“I have worked alongside residents, seeking answers on the ground,” he said. “Now I am running to ensure those voices reach the North Chungcheong provincial government and translate into tangible change. I will not only talk — I will deliver results.”
He pledged to stabilize Goesan’s agriculture, help small businesses thrive, and create a community where young people stay and others return. “I will close welfare gaps so seniors can enjoy secure retirements, and I will work to make Goesan a better place to raise children,” he said.
“I believe politics is made together, not alone,” Lee added. “I deeply thank everyone here. I will remain true to my original commitment and, with complete and thorough dedication, I, Lee Wan-cheol, will get the job done.”
He appealed for support as a fully prepared candidate committed to regional development and improving residents’ quality of life.
