On April 30, Choi Jae-gu, the People Power Party's preliminary candidate for Yesan County mayor, opened a campaign office in the Heungnong Building on Cheonbyeon-ro in Yesan-eup and formally launched his bid for re-election.
The event drew National Assembly member Kang Seung-gyu, former Yesan County Mayor Hwang Seon-bong, former Yesan County Council chairman Lee Seung-gu, local residents, and supporters.
In his remarks, Choi said, "Yesan stands at an important crossroads for change and advancement. I will prove with results that this is not just rhetoric, but real improvements in the lives of each resident."
He also pledged to make this a policy-centered campaign. "As I did four years ago, I will run a clean campaign without personal attacks," Choi said. "I hope the contest is decided through fair competition based on concrete policies and a clear vision for Yesan's future."
His major pledges include revitalizing the local economy; strengthening welfare so seniors are treated with respect; creating incentives and infrastructure to encourage young people to return and settle; and building a safe, comfortable living environment.
Choi said he will build on the achievements of the eighth elected county administration to sustain the region's development. "With proven drive, I will complete a happier Yesan that gives people confidence about tomorrow," he said. "I will listen to residents in the field and translate their concerns into policy."
Speakers at the opening also offered words of endorsement. Rep. Kang praised Choi's "passion and capability to change Yesan's trajectory," while former Mayor Hwang described him as a "proven candidate to lead uninterrupted development in Yesan."
