Translation result국민의힘Woo Seong-jin, who finished first in the People Power Party primary for Daegu's Dong District mayor and secured the party nomination, posted a message of gratitude on his social media on April 20 and vowed to press on toward victory in the general election.

“I am deeply grateful to have been chosen as the People Power Party’s final candidate for Daegu Dong District mayor,” Woo said, adding that the result reflects party members’ and residents’ earnest desire to open a new chapter for the district and ensure prosperity for everyone.

He repeatedly addressed party members and Dong District residents, promising to listen to their concerns and to humbly and faithfully represent their wishes.

Woo said he would not ignore the range of opinions, expectations and criticisms voiced during the primary and urged everyone to unite as the campaign heads into June.

He pledged to reach out first to voters who did not support him in the primary.

“I will approach those who did not back me,” he wrote. “I will go to the lowest neighborhoods in Dong District and listen first to the most desperate and struggling voices.”

Running on a platform of economic and action-oriented leadership, Woo signaled he will personally oversee day-to-day livelihood issues across the district.

He also thanked fellow primary contenders Bae Ki-chul, Seo Ho-young, Jung Hae-yong and Cha Su-hwan for their efforts and asked them to continue working together out of a shared commitment to Dong District.

“I will take your high ideals to heart,” he said, stressing the need for unity and asking for help to make the campaign a collective effort that brings together everyone’s strengths and ideas.

“I could come this far because you stood by me. Please stay with me through to victory on June 3,” Woo added, pledging to build a new future for Dong District in partnership with residents.

After winning the People Power Party primary and clinching the nomination, Woo has rolled out a “50-year plan” for Dong District and unveiled pledges that span the economy, childcare and education.

He proposes developing the former K2 military airport site into a tourism-and-industrial complex, creating a Geumho River tourism district, advancing Metro Line 4, and attracting a second medical center—all measures intended to stem population outflow and catalyze local growth.

With an aim to make Dong District a place where it’s good to raise children, he announced five district-specific childcare and education initiatives—including a walking school bus, three-generation family shared garden plots, a fathers’ childcare academy, and universal playgrounds—emphasizing stronger family policies.

He has added targeted proposals for different generations and groups—senior-friendly city measures, women’s safety and employment initiatives, and steps to create a leading educational environment—and pledged to be a district mayor who delivers results through execution rather than promises.
