Starbucks Korea is rolling out two Seoul-inspired drinks at 100 city locations starting March 16. The limited-time launches — the Seoul Sunset Omija Fizzio and the Seoul Makgeolli-Scented Cold Brew — were crafted especially with domestic and international visitors in mind.
The Seoul Sunset Omija Fizzio recreates twilight in the city. It layers a crimson omija (schisandra) syrup over limeade for a striking visual. Stirring the drink blends the zesty lime with omija’s tartness, shifting the color to a purple hue that calls to mind the evening sky. The concept nods to the iconic sight of palace ponds glowing at sunset.
The Seoul Makgeolli-Scented Cold Brew is a non-alcoholic creation that marries the aroma of traditional Korean rice wine, makgeolli, with smooth cold brew coffee. It’s a reimagining of the special-store exclusive Makgeolli-Scented Cream Cold Brew, designed so international visitors can enjoy a taste of K-food culture without the alcohol.
These Seoul-exclusive beverages will be available first at 100 high-traffic stores popular with tourists — including Myeongdong, Gwanghwamun, and Gangnam — and will expand to all Seoul locations by late April. Both drinks are offered in TALL size. Check Starbucks’ website and app for participating store details.
Starbucks Korea says it hopes the Seoul-focused drinks will give visitors a memorable, picture-perfect beverage moment. The company also expects interest to rise alongside a mid-March K-pop performance at Gwanghwamun Square featuring global artists.
Separately, Starbucks has been offering Jeju-specific drinks and food that highlight the island’s local specialties and natural scenery, giving visitors a distinct regional experience.
“We wanted to capture Seoul’s unique blend of tradition and trend—and the flavors of Korea—in a single cup,” said Choi Hyun-jung, head of food and beverage development at Starbucks Korea.
